A MORE COMFORTABLE APPROACH

Laser Hair Removal
Built Around Your Goals

Unwanted facial or body hair can be a real source of discomfort for many transgender and non-binary people, and permanent hair reduction is a well-recognized part of gender-affirming care. People come to us for different reasons — some are working toward reducing facial shadow, some are preparing for a surgical procedure that requires hair-free donor sites, and some simply want fewer daily reminders of hair they don't want. Whatever brings you in, your goals are the plan — not ours.

Hair removal can be about more than appearance — for some, it means less stressful shaving, fewer ingrown hairs, or an appearance that feels more aligned with who they are. You don't need to be at a particular stage of transition, and you don't need hormone therapy to begin. We start by listening: your treatment areas, your hair and skin, what you've tried before, and any concerns about comfort or privacy — then we build a plan around that.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Individualized Care, Not one-size-fits-all

We treat with the Candela GentleMax Pro, a medical laser platform with two wavelengths — 755nm Alexandrite, often suited to lighter skin, and 1064nm Nd:YAG, designed for deeper skin tones. Rather than treating every client with the same settings, we evaluate your skin and hair before treatment and choose the approach suited to you. We use medical laser technology built specifically for hair reduction, not IPL.

WHY CLIENTS COME TO US

Every Reason is a Valid Reason

Facial Hair Reduction

Softening or Reducing Shadow

Many clients come in specifically to reduce facial hair growth and shadow, whether that means a full course of treatment or an ongoing maintenance plan that fits your life.

Full Body Removal

Complete, Long-Term Removal

Others are working toward removing hair across larger areas of the body over time — we'll build a realistic session plan and timeline around your specific goals.

Pre-Surgical Preparation

Hair-Free
Donor Sites

Certain gender-affirming surgeries require hair-free graft or donor sites beforehand. If you're working with a surgeon and have a specific timeline, let us know so we can plan your sessions accordingly.

ON HORMONES & TIMING

Realistic plans, not one-size-fits-all promises

You can start whether or not you're taking gender-affirming hormones. Hormones can influence hair growth over time, so your plan and expectations are individualized rather than promised as a fixed number of sessions. Your consultation lets us evaluate your current hair growth and build a realistic plan from there.

BEFORE SURGERY

Preparing for gender-affirming procedures

Some gender-affirming surgeries require hair removal from specific sites beforehand. Laser may be appropriate when hair has enough pigment for the laser to target — but requirements vary by procedure and surgeon, and electrolysis is sometimes recommended or required for permanently removing individual remaining hairs. If you're preparing for surgery, bring your surgeon's hair-removal instructions to your consultation so we can coordinate timing and treatment areas appropriately.

Laser and electrolysis often work best together —

Laser reduces larger areas of dark, coarse hair efficiently, while electrolysis targets any remaining hairs laser can't fully treat. This combination is especially useful for facial hair and surgical preparation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions, Real answers,
No Assumptions

Is A-One transgender-friendly?

Yes. We welcome transgender, non-binary, gender-diverse, and gender-nonconforming clients with a private, respectful, individualized approach.

Do I need to be on hormones first?

No. Hormone therapy isn't required. Your hair growth, skin, goals, and history are what shape your treatment plan.

Can transgender women get facial laser hair removal?

Yes — upper lip, chin, jawline, neck, and sideburn areas can all be treated. Facial hair often needs multiple sessions due to density and growth cycles.

Can laser remove a beard permanently?

Laser is long-term hair reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal of every hair — some hair may remain or return, and maintenance sessions are common.

Is it safe for darker skin?

The GentleMax Pro's 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength is designed for deeper skin tones. We evaluate your specific skin and hair before treatment to determine the safest approach.

What if I have blonde or gray hair?

Laser targets pigment, so very light, white, or gray hair may not respond well — electrolysis is often a better fit for those hairs.

Can I get laser before gender-affirming surgery?

Possibly — this depends on your procedure, area, and surgeon's timeline. Always follow your surgical team's specific instructions.

Do I have to tell you I'm transgender?

No you don't have to. Share whatever feels relevant to your goals — we use the name and pronouns you request and focus on respectful, individualized care either way.
